Great little day trip, and great pics. It’s easy to forget there’s water and green stuff in AZ, I miss seeing the Saguaro on family trips to Tuscon. And that crested one is amazing, I had no idea such a thing existed. Thanks for sharing!

I love a good water crossing, but it always does make me nervous.
You’re on 35’s right? man, that kind of water level would make me nervous. This was with 33’s and stock (completely on the stops) height. Regarding the bow wave, I get the point of that...but if your fan is clutched (as is ours) do you even need to worry about throwing a belt? Wont the fan just stop when enough water hits it? Also, thanks Toyota for giving us the squeaky (but excellent) double waterpump belt.

Yep, 35’s. Still water would have been deep enough, that stuff was just that extra bit sketchy with how swift it was moving.
I would worry more about breaking the fan itself. The clutch should help. but like a lot of folks in higher temp areas I put on the stiffer blue fan clutch and even refilled the fan clutch oil with a higher weight. Works great and the truck runs very cool, but I think if I wave at decent RPM’S and the water was sudden and deep enough on the fan, something else would give. A belt or more likely some of the fan blades themselves. It’s more important on older trucks, but if I’m worrying about the fan in any way, I tend to think the water is too deep. (If I was far from home, I would not have made that water crossing. It wouldn’t be worth it)

One thing is for sure. I will be checking my diff oil after yesterday. I recently redid my extended diff and transfer case breathers. We’ll see how well the “new” ones work. (I have to drain and refill them anyways since the gear break-in period is over.)

Once again you’ve made me very jealous... Your corner of the world moves even higher up my bucket list!

Glad you dig it. So much stuff out there. If I spend the rest of my life exploring just AZ, CO and UT I’ll never see it all. (Not to mention that bastion of offroading in CA known as Death Valley. :-)
